Life Reboot 2020 — July

July has gone far better for me then June did.

Things in the world are still pretty crappy, even here in Australia. Coronavirus had a massive additional outbreak in the state of Victoria to the point that 400–500 cases a day is the current norm. Fortunately I’m in Queensland where things are mostly controlled, but I’m expecting a massive breakout to happen here too sooner or later.

But for the moment, it’s time for me to continue my series of Life Reboot posts.

For anyone who has stumbled across this without any context, this is a series of blog posts about my goal to reboot my life in 2020 and be all around more successful and happier.

I will rate each of the following on a scale of 1–10 and my thoughts on each rating for each month.

  • Read More Often
  • Creative Writing (D&D/Novels/Short Stories)
  • Web Design (Website Portfolio/Online Courses)
  • Finish Video Games
  • Healthy Eating
  • Regular Exercise
  • Sleep Better
  • Spend far less time idly browsing the internet (Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr/TVTropes)
  • Socialise More Outside of D&D
  • Read More Often

10/10. I read a ton of light novels & graphic novels over the last month. There isn’t much else I could put here beyond continuing with the smooth sailing.

  • Creative Writing (D&D/Novels/Short Stories)

8/10. Book 4/Trilogy 2 of The Wayfarer Chronicles is still on hold, and editing Book 2 & 3 is still taking it’s sweet time. It’s a slow process.

Hartia’s Story is slowly coming along, I’m trying to get more chapter outlines done and write stuff. It’s going to need alot of editing when it’s finally done.

D&D notes, prep & worldbuilding’s going very strongly. I also intend to plan & write a few short stories this month.

By the August update, I intend to have finally finished Book 2’s edit, have started Book 3’s edits, write 5 chapters & 5–10 chapter outlines of Hartia’s Story as well as have planned out 2–3 short stories and have written the draft of at least one of them.

  • Web Design (Website Portfolio/Online Courses)

1/10. Still on hiatus. Planning to pick this up in August or September.

  • Finish Video Games

8/10. Finished Dragon Quest 11 not long after June’s update. I picked up Secret of Mana and dropped it after an hour or so. It was boring and flat, and I couldn’t enjoy it.

So I picked up the Devil May Cry HD Collection and have finished DMC 1, 2 & 3. I’ll have Devil May Cry 4 finished this weekend and plan to start 5 this weekend and have that finished in the next week or so.

Once I’ve done that, I’m moving on to The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 1 & 2. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered comes out at the end of August, so that’s exciting.

By the August update, I will have finished Devil May Cry 4 & 5 as well as the first The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, along with being somewhere between 50–100% of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II.

  • Healthy Eating

7/10. For the most part I’ve been eating healthy and trying to focus on healthy meats with salads & vegetables for dinner or my wholemeal wraps with salad, swiss cheese & roast beef. Also taking multivitamins and other supplements for my health as well.

By the August update, I hope to eat healthy enough to bring this up from a 7 to an 8 or a 9.

  • Regular Exercise

5/10. Printed out an exercise routine for myself to do daily/every two days. Hoping to make this a habit that I have no problem following 4–5 days a week, along with my PT Session.

By the August update, I will be doing this 4–5 days a week along with weekly PT sessions.

  • Sleep Better

7/10. Sleeping better, which is a big help. Just need to make a point to go to bed early enough to get 7+ hours sleep all the time.

  • Spend far less time idly browsing the internet (Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr/TVTropes)

7/10. Not a whole lot else to report, but there’s times where I fall off the rails a bit.

  • Socialise More Outside of D&D

5/10. Saw a friend for the first time in months and have been working on trying to spend time with friends outside of D&D. Some small steps.

So overall a total of 58/90. Steps forward and getting back on track. Next update I’ll be over 60.
